“the first officer noted a few drops of oil coming from the “bullet” or tip of the number one (left) engine, although it was said to be “not that serious.”

Uhm.. That’s screwey.

A few drops of oil from my old Truck or my Bike is “not that serious”. I really wouldn’t want to fly in something that marks it’s territory like a Harley.

Delta MD-88. Turbine blade separation, blades went into the cabin, killed two people.

My Harley has issues with that comment. It has never had a turbine blade separation.

But leaking Erl is built in. Heck, it’s expected.

Actually, it only has had one leak and it was my fault because I used the wrong gasket on a top cover. But, yes. They used to be so bad you did not want to park them in someone’s driveway.

It never bothered me. But, my friends and family all had similar Bikes. Concrete driveway? Park on the grass. It pays to be a little “Rednek”.

I’m getting ready to sell Dad’s 07 Softail and even it has a leak.

But, yeah.. No catastrophic turbine failures.

I might put that in the listing.

American’s are ok, you just don’t want one built on a Monday or a Friday. Tues-Thurs is just fine. Check the tag.

Well, one of the reversers still deployed. That is something.

Once or twice I got stuck in the back rows of an MD80 series or CRJ. While uncontained failure like this is super rare, I still don’t like being in the line of fire when some critical rotating part lets go.

Copilot: did you forget to take the e-brake off? cause something's smoking back there...

I’ve made more than a few thrust reverser doors back in the day, but I’m secretly pleased that one isn’t one of mine, so the odds my fingerprints are still flying aren’t diminished one bit.
